Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters has earned her the title of one of the most popular American actors. She was raised by a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nursing assistant. Her interest in the theatre during summers spent with her famous father. Her studies in acting were at Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. After graduating at Brown University, she started making her Broadway debut soon afterward. In the space of two years from this, her first feature film was released and the next year she made her television debut. Since then she has appeared in a variety of films, television productions and stage plays. She has won many awards throughout her career. They include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. In spite of all these nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for the theatre isn't gone constant, as she still performs in the stage and on screen.
